Electrical power engineering laboratory is used in studies of technological systems and its modules can be decomposed into a number of components that can be mixed and matched into a variety of configurations. The components are able to connect, interact in some way, by adhering to a standardized interface. Besides reduction in cost (due to less customization and shorter learning time), and flexibility in design, the modularity of this lab offers other benefits such as augmentation (adding new solution by merely plugging in a new module), exclusion and to overcome changing customer demands and to make the manufacturing process more adaptive to change; definitely it combines the advantages of standardization with those of customization. The main areas covered by the modules are those of power generation (generator analysis and network operation, load characteristics, network synchronization), power transmission and distribution (three-phase transformers, transmission lines, power distribution), energy utilization (complex loads, energy and power consumption, power factor compensation, energy management), protection techniques (generation, transformer, transmission, distance, HV line protections and current and voltage transformers) with loads, power measurement units, transformers, power circuit breakers, AC machines, PC interface and all the necessary extra equipment to make the whole laboratory complete such as frames, working bench and leads.
